"Artception"

Art opus exploring the photographs and original paintings of Brenda Nasr, interpreted through conceptual makeup designs by Sasha Lutfullina, merged and re-imagined by illustrator Silvan Borer. The paintings inspiring the works were created over a span of ten years, and were a means for Ms. Nasr to cope with receiving a devastating eye diagnosis that she was gradually going blind, and that her disease (called retinitis pigmentosa) was irreversible and untreatable. Many of the paintings explore her relationship with her own (failing) eyesight and present with some form of abstraction or deviation from a traditional figurative drawing as it pertains to the eyes. This project culminates Ms. Nasr's healing journey and artistic journey while also celebrating a new-found career in photography, where despite her visual obstacles, she continues to push forward in the medium.
