"Lost My Marbles"

I shot these images shortly after returning to the United States after living abroad and coming home to find that my father was dying. The disorientation I felt re-adjusting to a new life while dealing with the process of losing my father prompted this body of work. These images are a photographic exploration of the process of losing a family member or loved one to ailing health (through death outright or parts of them that have been lost to disease), including loss of mobility, dementia, and so on. We all experience grief and sorrow in different ways, but the loss of a loved one is something that we have all experienced or will experience. This experience itself, in whatever way it manifests, is universal and therefore connects all of us.
